Years ago when we arrived, the Economic Amusement Park was like Disney Land for grown-ups. It was better than Disney Land because we created our own fun from the Magic Abundant Forest where money really did grow on trees and the trails were marked with golden stepping stones leading every visitor to the home of their dreams.
Along with our fully outfitted dream homes were the latest model vehicles, including boats, four-wheelers, power scooters for our kids, cell phones for the whole family, intercoms, internet, inter-galactic satellite to receive every bad movie ever made in the entire Universe on our 5 billion channel, 10-ft. wide, high def televisions with surround sound loud enough to lift you out of your 27 function barco-lounger with built-in popcorn maker! It was AWESOME.
Life was bliss while we floated along the Tunnel of Love-My-Stuff as long as we paid no attention to the 'man' behind the curtain pulling the levers and spinning the dials of our Fantasy Island make believe. The rides in the Economic Amusement Park were exhilarating as well as whimsical. The Merry Money-Go-Round was a favorite as it took us on a ride of endless revolving credit on multi-colored bank cards disguised as lovely prancing ponies, gentle giraffes and sophisticated swans. Round and round and up and down as we let the calliope music lull us into the "bigger is better" mantra of super-sized jumbo loans and (nutritionally void) delicious whopper waistlines (more to love, right?)
But like the emerald city of Dubai, the Economic Amusement Park was built on a foundation of ever shifting sand, made-up of pretend rules of conduct and ethics that were amended on a whim by the great and powerful wiki-Oz. And like all good and well behaved children that seek the approval of our elders and do what we are told, we began to feel confused and disoriented as our Tea Party-Cups spun faster and faster and the fine print we were to follow got smaller and smaller until everything was just a blur and our heads ached and our stomachs churned and we begged the ride to stop.
As we stumble back to our foundation cracking, paint peeling, high maintenance homes we can't understand what went wrong. We no longer understand the rules of the game. We didn't even realize we were playing a game. God forbid we let anyone know that we don't understand what's going on. So we keep it all inside like frightened children and ask ourselves what we should do. Who can we trust? Should we do something different? But what? It will work itself out, right? And then we'll get back to having fun again! I can't wait until they re-open the Merry Money-Go-Round. It sure has been down for maintenance a long time now.
Like the Hotel California of song lore, once you enter the Economic Amusement Park, you can never leave! UNLESS... and here's the really OMG, Dorothy and the ruby slippers- 'a-ha', "I could've had a V-8" moment...
...You GROW UP and take 100% responsibility for everything that has brought you to this exact moment in time!
Stop crying Peter Pan, if you want things to be different then you have to change. Adults can have fun too, I promise. They have even more fun because they don't worry about who is controlling the purse strings of their lives. The Fantasy Island Economic Amusement Park is in ruins because we wanted to experience the carefree frolic of excessiveness! Wheeee!
Now stop blaming the government, Wall Street, the Auto, Airline or Oil & Gas industries on your personal debt - you got what you asked for, be grateful for your education and experience and let it go. Become the parent to your own financial health & well being that you so wantonly left up to others in the past.
Blame and shame will only perpetuate more of the same.
So grab hold of one another Peter and Dorothy, as fiscally responsible grown-ups you can literally walk out the front gates of the run-down Economic Amusement Park and the guards will never notice. The precious golden ring of awareness will make you invisible to the other miserable souls still standing in line at the Merry Money-Go-Round with the "closed for repairs" sign on the chain. You will be vibrating with a new, higher fiscal frequency that no else in the park can see. Go ahead, walk through those rusty gates, and see what it feels like!
Unlike the ones left behind, you are now responsibly FREE!
Today is the first step toward an awareness that there is another way to relate to money in your life and business. Most of us have become totally schizophrenic when it comes to money. When we have it we trust in the universe, we are happy in our relationships, we feel less inhibited to express ourselves.
